Diamond Blades can be a very quick and economical method to cut concrete and asphalt especially when compared to conventional abrasive blades. Since there are a wide variety of aggregates used in concrete and asphalt as well as a wide range of horsepower and weight of the saws used to cut, it is especially important to match the diamond tool to your specific cutting requirements.

For sawing in the installation of traffic loops diamond blades can be furnished for wet cutting and in certain situations dry cutting. Cutting with water cools the diamond and metal bond material holding the diamond so that the blade continues cutting for a longer period of time resulting in lower blade costs. In soft aggregate limestone concrete and in most asphalt, diamond blades can be run dry as long as the blade is specifically designed to do so. The blade life will be shorter due to the high cutting temperatures that the diamonds are exposed to. Dry cutting blades must be manufactured with either a laser welding process to attach the segment to the steel center or a high temperature brazing process so that the chances of segment loss are minimized.

Diamond Blade Performance Grades (jpeg 100k)

One of the most important decisions in selecting the correct diamond blade for your sawing application is matching the diamond grade with the

horsepower saw that you are using. As higher horsepower saws are used a higher diamond grade should be used. Please consult our sales associates at R.A.I. for recommendations on application and diamond grade for your specific requirements.
