Backer Rod
Backer rod is ideal for holding the loop wire in the loop slot while the loop sealant is being installed. We do not recommend using Backer Rod throughout the entire loop slot because it prevents the loop sealant from encapsulating the loop wire. We recommend using small 1" pieces of Backer Rod every few feet to hold the wire in place.
Backer Rod is available in ¼", 3/8", and ½" diameters. Always use a Backer Rod that is larger than the loop slot. I.e. if the loop slot is ¼" wide use 3/8" Backer Rod.
